Classes in Pollok (Awhitu Peninsula)
-
In 2025, Kra KoTo Kra is in its eighth year of teaching in Franklin. Our little community of drummers and dancers have grown in that time.
We are currently taking a hiatus on the dance classes, but drumming classes are at Te Toro Hall on Tuesdays. Starting at 6.30pm, Sid’s West African Style drumming class, open to everybody, from “never touched a drum before” absolute beginners, to performance hardened players. We learn, drill and practice traditional Djembe technique and play West African rhythms.
In addition to the Djembe, technique and parts for other instruments found in a West African style drumming ensemble such as Dunduns, bells and shakers will be taught.
